Scholarships & Awards

The Ottawa Valley Music Festival (OVMF) reaches out into the community with its Scholarship, Awards and Performance Programs which reward and assist young musicians in nurturing their talents, and encourage a life-time interest in music.

The Karl Fick Memorial Scholarship (Vocal)

This scholarship was established in 2007 by the Ottawa Valley Music Festival in loving memory of Karl Wesley Fick, a founding member of the OVMF Chorus. This $1,000 scholarship is awarded annually to a participant in the Renfrew Rotary Music Festival who is a minimum of 12 years of age and has completed Grade 6 to ARCT or higher.  It designed to recognize the promising vocal student who has put forward an outstanding effort and who best demonstrates exceptional musicianship and dedication to his/her studies, and is intended to cover expenses for continuing studies, professional tutorial fees, meals, etc.  The participant must be registered in at least three vocal solo categories as well as sight reading. Demonstration of versatility by participation in ensemble singing and/or any piano category will be given additional consideration. This award is not necessarily mark related and the recipient is selected at the discretion of the adjudicator.

(The submission of an application is not required)

The Ottawa Valley Music Festival Scholarship

The Ottawa Valley Festival Music Scholarship is designed to assist secondary school students who plan to pursue full-time studies in music at a recognised post-secondary institution. The intent is to help nurture a special talent or life-time interest in music.  Application forms may be downloaded or obtained from school guidance departments. The OVMF Scholarship Committee selects the recipient. The OVMF Concert Series has been privileged to present many of these talented young people in concert and has also invited them to return as mature featured artists. Deadline for applications is the second Monday in May.

Each concert in our Concert Series opens by highlighting an exceptional young artist from the Ottawa Valley. The Rotary Club of Eganville generously sponsors the young performers.
